    Engine Oil and Oil Filter

What is the proper - factory correct engine oil that should be used in a 1959 Retractable with a 352 engine? Also - What type of oil filter? I have been using some heavy duty engine oil for some time now but wasn't sure if it was correct?
    Thanks

I always use NAPA Gold oil filters along with Valvoline VR1 Racing oil. This oil has zinc in it which helps reduce wear in flat tappet engines. If you use a "normal" oil, make sure you use an additive such as ZDDP. You can experiment with the vicosity, I usually use 10W-30 on rebuilds (after the break in oil), 10W-40 if the engine has a few miles on it. Oh, and I NEVER use synthetics unless the owner's manual calls for it!!!

    Gary.
