    Gas milage

When trying to fix my gas gauge, I checked between fill ups to see what kind of mileage I was getting. I was a little surprised to find I was getting about 7 miles to the gallon. It has not been tuned up or had much else done to the engine but it starts fine and runs well. I believe my engine is a replacement FE 390. But still I thought I would get maybe 12 miles per gallon at least. What kind of mileage did (do) these cars get?

If I do 55mph I get about 12-13. If I do 65-75mph then it goes down to 9-10mpg. This is with a 352 ci engine.

My 332 ci two barrel '59 Skyliner gets around 15 MPG last I checked. My old '62 Merc Monterey S-55 with a 390 four barrel got around 8 MPG.

My 352ci 1959 Skyliner got 14.1 mpg on our roadtrip last summer. My friend was driving his 352ci 1964 Galaxie Country Squire it got 14.2 mpg for the same trip.
I have also a 352ci 1960 Thunderbird hardtop which got 14.5 mpg last time I checked the gas mileage.
