    Steam cleaning engine

    Hi
Has anyone ever steam cleaned the engine on their skyliner. Is it worth it for cleaning off the grease etc. I don't want to damage the paint in the engine bay. The main goal is to detail the engine bay. Also to clean it up to ain't the block.

    Any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks

I did last summer on my '57 and thought it was definitely worth it. Since I pulled the engine and tranny for rebuild, it allowed me to get into alot of places I wouldn't have otherwise. I didn't use a steam cleaner (hard to find), but rather rented a hot water pressure washer. It was very effective getting crusty and in some cases, thick grease accumulations out of the engine bay, engine and off the front suspension without damaging anything. A good first step before painting/restoring that part of the car.
