    window replacement

I am replacing both door windows on my 58 Skyliner. I have put the new glass into the frame with setting tape but have not been able to get the glass into the lift channel with a new seal in them. I have used a rubber hammer gently with no results. Is there a tricky way to seat the glass into the seal in the lift channel? If it can not be done by an amateur, where would anyone suggest I take the windows to be assembled.

It is pretty hard to get them to set in the lift channel. In the past when I have replaced my windows I used cloth ratcheting tie downs to squeeze the glass into the lower channel. If you go slow and have plenty of cardboard protecting the glass from the ratchet assembly you should be fine. Also, you need to make sure your straps are pulling straight.

The tie down ratchet worked great. Moved it along the window in about three places, pulling the glass in a bit each move. Thanks again.
