    Rear end gear

What would be the normal gear ratio in the rear end of a '59 with a 332c.i. & a Fordomatic transmission?

    Thanks, Bob.

my '59 with a 352 and a fordomatic had 3.09 gears. Might want to check the rear end for a tag. Should be under one of the third member studs.

I guess its long gone! I was looking at a '59 brochure & it seemed to pair the 332 with a 2.91.

    Hi bob,
figuring rear end ratio is fairly easy. Lift one rear wheel off the ground. With the remaining wheels blocked, put the transmission in neutral. Now rotate the wheel one revolution while counting revolutions of the driveshaft. Then times the driveshaft revolutions by two. This will account for the differential spider gears to the other wheel turning. The results is your ratio. I hope this helps.
