    Front Skocks - 1959 Retractable

I purchased new KYB Gas Filled Mono Tube front shocks for my '59 Retract. The mounting holes for the bottom do not line up. Has anyone else had that problem? Thank you for any help. My email address is homerd@tds.net

If the car is on stands you will need to jack the lower control arms up (one at a time) to align the holes.
    Good luck,

I bought and installed all four KYB shocks on my '59 Skyliner, the rears yesterday and the fronts this morning. The rears fit perfectly. I was disappointed with the fit of the front ones. The cross bracket on the bottom of the shock is not the same width of the OEM ones I removed. The bracket is not quite wide enough and the bolts barely secure the bottom of the shock to the car. I used some wide washers and hope they will hold.

Now, in order not to hijack this thread, I'm going to start a new one in this 'Main Forum' catagory and introduce myself and ask a few questions.
