    332 Engine Overheating

I have a 1959 Ford with a 332 engine that overheats in parades or in slow moving traffic. What can I do to solve this problem?

If all cooling system items such as thermostat radiator are in good shape you could try a electric fan or adding a fan shrowd and a fan with more blades to try to move more air also a 4 core radiator might help.

Check the radiator for a baffle. Many times the baffle was removed by unknowing shops. If the baffle is missing, the coolant will circulate too fast, causing the car to run hot, especially at idle. If the baffle is there, next check the thermostat. The cars run best with a 180 or 190 thermostat. The 160 also can cause the coolant to circulate too fast. If the coolant is circulating too fast, it is not in the radiator long enough to cool down. Next check the radiator, if it is plugged up, it may need rodded out or replaced. If replacing, use a 4-row. This will increase coolant capacity over original. Hope these ideas help.
