    taillight bezels on 1958

I am preparing the body for painting. When I tried to see how the bezels fie to the body they had gaps were ever I tried to place them. Bought another pair to only find out the retractable has a special size. I tried again, and though the size is right the fit is still bad. Is this just old time Detroit or is there a way to fit them. There was some work done on the body on the left side rear but not on the right and both sides are about the same bad fit.

    Thanks Wahoo

Are you talking about the chrome bezel or the taillight door that mounts to the body?

They are the castings that attach to the body.

None of these fit very well at all, These pot metal parts were only ment to resemble the shape of the quarter, not match it. Since it is pot metal, you can shape it a little with a body file or a dye grinder with a fine grit disk. Good luck!

The man who painted my 58 said he would work on the bezels before he painted the car. They look great and fit wonderfully on the fins and sides. Still do not met the body toward the center..
