Hi,
Has anyone used something other thatn the normal cork gaskets when replacing an exhaust manifold? I remember when I did work on my friends mustang he was using some other type of gasket which he thought was better than the standard OEM ones.

Also - Has anyone ever used Jet Hot Coatings on any of the engine parts to insulate them from heat etc?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

The original Y-block engines did not use any gaskets between the exhaust manifold and the block. I am not sure about the FE engines. Some people do use a metal type. I have no experience with Jet Hot Coatings. I do use a gray rub that comes From Eastwood to make them look better. Ron B

Check the surfaces for flatness. Exhaust manifolds can be milled flat. Gaskets are are a stopgap for a leak.
Jet hot works but, is not cheap.
