door lock missing

I am putting my 58 back together after it's new paint job. I thought I had everything in separate bags but can not find the passenger side outside door lock. I have the retainer. I have heard that only ones made especially for the retractable will fit. Is this true?

The 58 retractable uses the same lock as all other 58 Fords. The 57 have a retractable only door lock because it is positioned in the side trim. Hope this information will help.

Thanks, I will try to find a replacement if the original does not turn up under or in something in the garage.

New ones are available at most vendors.
BTW; 57 locks are the same except for the flip cover.
